From July 1st to 5th, 2011 in the Kazakh capital of Astana will be held the 2nd annual ASTANA International Action Film Festival, organized by Timur Bekmambetov.
The festival takes place on the eve of the capital of Kazakhstan’s anniversary. Organizers will give Kazakhstan's a true celebration of film, which will bring together in Astana international cinema stars, famous actors, directors, artists, producers and potential investors. The Film Festival is a perfect occasion to show Festival guests the dynamic capital of Kazakhstan, while at the same time presenting the best action films. Action films are today among the most popular worldwide.
The official festival program includes over 20 non-competing full-length feature films made in the USA, Europe, Asia, and the CIS. For five days viewers will be able to see popular movies, visit the pre-premiere screenings of the new films of the year.
Opening ceremony of the Festival will be held at the Palace of Peace and Reconciliation.

Astana Action Film Festival hosts actors, directors and producers associated with the most notable pictures, as well as stunt coordinators and special effects experts:
Steven Seagal - Hollywood actor and film director. Starred in Under Siege and Under Siege 2, as well as in scores of action movies.
Armand Assante - American actor and producer. Starred in the legendary movies The Odyssey and The Mambo Kings.

Michelle Rodriguez - American actress. Starred in Avatar, The Fast and the Furious and in the popular TV series Lost.
Marat Basharov-Russian movie and theater actor. Participant of popular TV projects Stars on Ice and Ice Age. Starred in more than 40 full-length movies.
Nikolai Valuev - Russian bruiser in super heavyweight division. Author of the book "My 12 rounds".
